What do we do?
Starter Packs aim to
respond positively to help the homeless and people in need. Supported by local
Churches, Starter Packs works in partnership with various organisations
including The Salvation Army's Furniture Re-Use Project.
Starter Packs help individuals
and families on low incomes who have been given the tenancy of a house or flat
but who don’t have access to basic household goods. We make up packs of
household goods to give people a positive start to their new home lives. We
supply everything that contributes to a comfortable home from crockery and bed
linen to cleaning materials and toiletries. In the main these items have been
donated to us by members of the local community. Someone can always use what
you no longer need and it’s always worth donating to help improve someone’s
quality of life.
What can we take?
Crockery • Cutlery • Pots • Pans • Cooking Utensils • Kettles •
Toasters Basins • Buckets • Dust Pans & Brushes • Blankets • Bed Linen •
Curtains • Towels Children’s Bedding • Mirrors • Clocks • Lamps • Light Bulbs •
Soft Furnishings Cleaning Materials • Toiletries
In fact, anything that
helps make a house a home!
We need items that are in good working order and re-useable.
Very often it is the
simple things like toilet roll, washing-up liquid, polish and other cleaning
items that we can’t get hold of. So, the next time you are doing your shopping,
why not go for that buy one-get one free offer and donate the spare item to
someone who really needs it!
Bed linen and curtains
are always in demand. We often get requests to help families with children and
babies. It’s great to be able to match items to suit different age groups and
specific needs. So, if you are planning a bedroom make-over, don’t throw your
old linen away, launder it and pass it to someone who can put it to good use.
